TAMASKANS
"Wolfdog without the wolf."

Tamaskans are a new and rare breed of dog specifically bred to look like a wolf but still be 100% domestic dog. They are currently a mix of many of the northern breeds such as Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Northern Inuit and Utonagan; and other breeds like the German Shepherd and Belgian Malanois; however the breed is still under development. The continued goal is to capture the essence of wolves in a package that is safe for everyone. Wolf hybrids are not all dangerous but breeding a hybrid that will work for human companionship is chancy. People are after that wolf look but want a dog's friendship and loyalty. The Tamaskan is, in my opinion, the best attempt so far.

Recently, there have been allegations by one Tamaskan group towards another and now multiple Tamaskan groups or clubs exist. I have done my homework on the conflicts and come to the conclusion that no matter what Club I choose to associate with or purchase dogs from, the parents of those dogs will be of proven health and beauty. I will still purchase my first pup when I get back from Iraq to carry on with the wolfdog without the wolf.
