My name is Karina Fletcher. It seems that my husband James and I will be sticking around the Central Coast area for a bit while longer. We may get to Texas eventually but for now the move is on hold while I am in Baghdad, Iraq.
We have arranged for our horses to continue training and showing during my absence. The focus for the show and breeding program of our ranch is to produce all around performance horses that can do trail or ranch work too. We know how important it is to always have a horse you can count on.
Each one of our horses finds his or her own niche, and we just help them along in doing what they have a knack for doing naturally.
Though small, our band has some proven cutting and reining lines that include Smart Little Lena,Tuf N Busy, Peptoboonsmal and Chex That Out from our mares. Our stallion Morgan Dun N Stone throws in some good old foundation blood with Sugar King Bartender as his grandfather. And Tuf Rockin Blues Bar will continue with the Tuffernhel way of things. I am confident that both stallions will prove themselves before long.
As for our human family, both Fletch and I currently serve in the U.S. Army. We are a family of soldiers and warriors. Both of us take great pride in what we do, what we have done and what we have yet to do.
The etymology of "arrow maker" traces back to the Fletchers of Dunnans. They were historical Scottish warriors and "fletchers" themselves were so named for the fletching of arrows for Scottish warrior clans, thereby proving themselves loyal Scottish patriots. They became known by their trade as arrow makers, as Fletchers.
I hope for the same; I aim for Arrow Maker Ranch to be known for the quality of the horses produced and shown.
I started out as a city girl going through a horse "phase" at a hunter/jumper stable in Olive Branch, MS. That phase lasted about 12 years until I hit high school and college. I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and was a working student with Christy Cramer until I moved to California for a job. Now we're slowly getting the ranch going and I to attend more classes to complete degrees in Equine Science and Business Management from Central Texas College. I have also picked up equine color genetics as a hobby and welcome questions about possible crosses or just how to get a certain color.
In addition to Quarter Horses, I will be offering limited sales of the Tamaskan dog breed as well as animal photography at a later date. Please keep checking back for updates.
Thanks for visiting Arrow Maker Ranch. We look forward to hearing from you.
